Posted to Bordon
We've just been told we're being posted to Bordon at the end of June. Does anyone know what it's like for families, what the housing is like etc? We're only there for 9 months anyway but I thought I'd ask.

Can you imagine me going to Afghanistan and leaving my husband with a 10 month old baby for four months!? The house would look worse than Kabul!
Yep, SEME, he has to do his Class 1, whatever that is? Makes him fully qualified, I think
He was due on it from August but they rang and asked his boss if he was available to start in July. He was due to go to Afghan in August so I've been lucky
I'd just started gearing myself up for him going to Afghan and getting quite worried about it....it would have been my first tour so I was a bit nervous so I'm really pleased he's staying.

The countryside around Bordon is really nice. Close enough to go to the big city and far enough away from it as well. The married patches were OK by army standards but I don't know what they are like now the DHE or whatever it is has taken them over, they were OK, let's hope they have improved. Flo was at Bordom for a while and will know better, we just visited every Corps Birthday and got socially confused
and saw it in passing...
and saw it in passing...Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...

Honey im not going to give you false hopes regards to housing, they are the worst and smallest quarters you will ever come across. Im sorry to be blunt but just look at the bigger picture like stix says the countryside is lovely and at least your man wont be deployed while there as its a training camp.
Sorry hun but thats the way it is.

The place we're in now is tiny so I'll be used to it. Well, huge I'M A SCAMMER SPAMMER!!! and tiny front room. It's very claustrophobic.
Like you say though, hubby will be home and safe so that's the most important thing really and it is only nine months so I think I can handle that! Also, only 58 miles to my mums so that's good for me too!
Is there much to do there, Flo? Like shops and what have you? Here we are literally in the middle of nowhere which I've found quite hard being a Londoner. Hubby reckons Tesco is not far at all and there are a few things but he's a bloke so ya know...not the most reliable source of info!
