Education prior to joining?
Thanks for all your advice guys. I will indeed stick it out till the end and hopefully pass.
The thing with my look on life, if i want to do something as a career i might aswell do it my whole life and take it as far as i can seems though you only live once. I'd much rather become a professional in one area than pretty good in several jobs.
So i was hoping it would be possible to stay in the RM beyond average retirement age. Are the chances of staying in the RM for the majority of my working life realistic?

Woody, (do you have a woody btw?
)for enlisted it`s twenty two years plus the possibility of further extensions. The old reprobate who ran the Armoury at CTC managed thirty odd years(37 ish I think)
As a Commissioned Orifice, fifty five is about chucking out time but again, many stay on beyond that age. Depends on the job and who wants to do it once you’ve left, I `spose
Finish your education first though

Well yep from what you written in the "retreat section" you do seem to have a problem with me, I get emailed the stuff telling me that I'm getting on people's wick and to tone it down. If you want to sit in there b1tching away rather pm'ing me about it feel free.
Yep sorry if I was trying to stop you having a conversation with a mythical chinese character.
Sorry if I don't agree that you telling this lad to carry on his education is the right thing to do, without knowing what he is actually being educated in. He could be at the bleeding islamic school for terror studying Jihad for all we know and there you are telling him to stay there.
but if I don't annoy with my opinions, I'm happy that your happy.

There is a section in the Retreat which nominates W4nker of the week.
I don`t usually bother, but for you I made an exception.
There are no other posts about you because we couldn`t be bothered.
I do not have a problem with you, beyond
A) my boredom threshold
B)your qualified opinions
Ooh yawn, is that the time
I have nothing further to say to you and please don`t start pm ing me

Vocational qualifications dont mean nothing to most employers as theyre always changing the qualification, only time worth having them is for plumbing etc and then only if you get a work placement which is what employers in that field will be after not some NVQ or B-tec or whatever else you can get now.GreyWing wrote: Which is exactly why I said if it's not a vocational course, I'd bin it. That is a huge difference from what people think I said of bin your education.
Yes many college courses are stupid and teach for the test but A-levels are still often recognised and look better than just GCSE's as theyre a recognised academice qualification.

Stick with your course.
At least then you might be able to complete a CV with decent spelling and grammar. (Not a pop at you, btw, but a general observation of posts on this 'ere forum.)
You are a long time working in this life ...... do something while you are young which fulfills your je ne sais quoi.
Jayne. Teacher of umpty dozen years standing.
