Re: Snowdrops?
You could try not referring to us as "Snowdrops" that might be a nice start!bennett_2006 wrote:just looking for some helpful advice from guys in the know.

sorry Hostage_Negotiator, accept my apologies, it was my understanding from what i was told in the AFCO and from mates who are serving currently in the RAF that snowdrops was just the nickname for the trade like say, scopie for Asop.
Sorry for any offence, it wasnt intended at all!

Informed opinion there Airman.....sorry my bad!...STUDENT!
Obviously yet another Drill Bit who listens to crap from a mate of a mate who's in the know!!
Oh, and Bennett as stated in PM no harm done! Just don't let Drill Bits like "lardy182" get to you, he's probably an ATC Warrant Officer or some other type of wanabee who likes telling kids what to do but couldn't hack it in reality, hence the fact he's a student who's interested in the Forces but not actually in them...nuff said really!

Actually i was talking from experience but it was a light hearted comment but i suppose its expected for a snowy to get all up tight about it!
Its actually a job of the RAFp to go around bases checking if people are "speeding" infact the base im on even has signs up saying how many people were band last year. So not only do they "do" people for speeding they actually enjoy doing it and brag about it. Obviously you as a snowdrop would no all this is true wouldnt you???

What experience would that be exactly?

Ooh.. you got me there, because we couldn't possibly possess a sense of humour or wit could we?

Thanks for pointing that out for me, I've only served 18 and a bit years so wasn't quite sure!
infact the base im on even has signs up saying how many people were band last year.
What base would that be then, thought you were a student! Public roads have notices on them quoting stats for RTI's fatalities, prosecutions etc so whats your point?
So not only do they "do" people for speeding they actually enjoy doing it and brag about it.
What !! you mean Policemen in the course of their duty are actually having the audacity to be stopping offenders and taking the appropriate action to reduce the risk of possibly serious/fatal incidents which normally involve completely innocent third parties such as children playing in the assumed safety of the married patch....
Obviously you as a snowdrop would no all this is true wouldnt you???
You Sir are a PLANK!
Oh and do us all a favour and either purchase and use a dictionary or if as a hard up student you need the money for cheap cider try using the shiny laptop mummy and daddy bought you and type your post on a blank windows doc., use spellcheck then cut and paste!

lol i cant believe you decided to reply with such an indepth answer, but ill play the game.....
What experience would that be exactly?
Well sir i thought my experience was self explanatory, however for the less fortunate of us i will reiterate..... I was pulled over on base and given a warning for "speeding", it was my first time so I didnt get banned from driving on base, was just told off for being a very naughty boy....
we couldn't possibly possess a sense of humour or wit could we?
Yes your very good with your sense of homour and wit, heres another little short story... During basics we had a brief by two drops they came in told us to relax, chill out, it was a very imformal affair, nothing would leave the room etc. They then went on to talk about drugs and what drugs they had taken before joining up, you no making jokes about it..... They then asked if anybody in the room had... Two lads stupidly said they had but nothing else was said, 20 mins later breif over... half an hour later two sergeants come storming in and has a go at every one because of what these two lads had said. They were discharged a couple of days later.
As for the signs question, what you said is bolloxs, you cant compare signs up on public roads to signs that are put up in the junior ranks mess. And as for children there are no family quarters on base.
I dont care how long you have been in I wasnt telling you your job, i was giving an experience I encoutered. And not for 1 minute do I think the RAFp are useless or not required they do a good job, most of the time........

Not to try and stir this up at all or stick a spanner in the works, i thought that if you did drugs before you joined the RAF they didnt really care so long as from your point of entry you realise it will not be tolerated (At least that was what was written in the literature i was given). When i say they wouldnt care, i mean for more "acceptable drugs" class c or in some cases even B? obv class a would screw up chances, but surely thats the reason for the test during the recruitment medical, to establish that??
Just a thought, pleaser correct me if im wrong...

You still haven't stated "your" military status/experience and for your information 75-80% of units still have on unit MQ's!larry182 wrote:Theres nothing to stir up either, i was just giving my bad experience the the raf police in a light hearted message. however i should have rephrased the sneaky f@#k bit, i guess that was a bit too strong!
As for my "bollox" Stats are posted in areas of general congregation as thats where most people will read/see them you plank!
Interested in the terminology you use:ie "the base I'm on!" are you a squatter? or just a dreamer?
Sounds like you failed basic and are one of those lost and lonely failures that prop up the Uni Bar with tales of your Daring Do! ,......all 2 weeks of it!
Still a PLANK! despite the apology!

I have no intention of posting my "military status" whats the point? I could say any random job but it wouldnt prove whether what i was saying was the truth or not.
75/80% wheres that figure come from? Then again dont answer that because its irrelevant, the base im on doesnt have family quarters so there was no requirement for you to bring that point up...
Why have you got a sore arse any way? 18 years in to the job and still getting bullied by all the scary squaddies or should i say every other force you come across.....
Am I a squatter? Well I can understand why you asked that. Yes I know our bases should be secure but with the RAFp patrolling to keep away the baddies I can see why you think its possible for my to squat on a base!
Am I a dreamer? Theres nothing dreamy about being on a base or working in the RAF for that matter, im not one for "bigging myself up" about being in the forces.
Final point ill refrain from name calling, theres nothing big about it on a forum......ill leave that for when we are down town beating the f@#k out of the snowys!!! haha just a bit of fun
