Afghanistan/Taliban

Post by thuny »

spent the last few days just thinking to myself how long the conflict over there will be in play for and came to the conclusion that it may never end as its not just the taliban were fighting.... I seem to think in my head everyday the taliban has 100's of new fighters comming across the boarder to kill us, the supposed " infidels"..

just curious on everyones opinion on the length this operation may go on for.

I hate to say this but it may never end. The Taliban may not be defeated for a long time. Either way nobody can really say.

We're gonna be there forever. This morning, on my mini bus, the driver said that the Taliban weren't coming over from Pakistan, weren't regrouping there, blah, blah, blah. If the Taliban aren't coming from there, then where? Maybe he thought I was saying all Taliban were Pakis.

He's Indian. Makes no sense and is a right nutter- says he's on £30 grand a year. He then said a monkey escaped in Pakistan and they caught it on the mountain border. Says the police there are "very good". Whatever!

never going to end, even when we've gone, it's not going to end except in one instance, when these god botherers are up against technology. When we get our technology upto a point where our men are taken from the battlefield. That's when these chaps will stop, no idiot is going to suicide bomb a robotic check point no matter how fanatical.

When we get our technology up to that standard, then it's over.

Yeah, Yeah. There's a fella in 42 Cdo with laser vision - he can bring big jets down by looking at them. I think he was bit by a spider (or it may have been a 'Paki' or even an Indian Paki :-? ) when he was a kid.

May the force be with you all 8)

I sit here all day watching the discovery channel, and those A-rabs have another thing coming in the next decade, seen a nice little bin like robot that parks itself up next to a tree and sits there for years. When something trundles past, it contacts bases with pics and next thing you now, boooooom. :o

Then there is the next generation predator drones, oh how they tremble when we get a squadron of those little bleeders.

Too be fair to the British government, they launched a competition 3 months ago for crazy U.K people / scientists / psycho's to come up with some new tech weapons and systems, apparently some real sicko's sending in their ideas :drinking:

You guys think I'm joking, how many suicide bombers you seen on robot wars? on the BBC. I need a proper pass time, too much discovery channel

I bet you £20 they would!

- i think allied forces will basically stay in afghan until things cool down, until the taliban are running low in numbers maybe 1 year? but we will never beat them or be vicorious... because they regroup, new groups are formed and terrorist will be a new form of life... (you already knew that...) but yea... same thing in Iraq basically... we will take them over, hand it back to the 'people'... then 15 years later they will be back to there old trick, more secretive than before... etc etc...
