The people that are likely to use knifes to attack other people are not the sort that will hand them over during an amnesty.

Whilst I think the idea is a good and valid one, I agree with Tab. The people who would hand over the knives would be your everyday normal person, whereas the people who would actually use the knives in an attack would not hand them over!

I carry a small Knife about 1" long, its always useful.

I remember a local old bloke was in the paper because he carried a live GRANADE some 6miles on the bus to hand it in at the police station :o

They had a local gun amnesty in the City here this year. People could just phone the cops and they would come and get them. Problem was, a couple of young cops with more entrepeneurial spirit than smarts decided they'd try to make a buck on the side by diverting some of the wpns back into the market and were busted. Career careering alright, career stops!

The stupidity of amnesties astounds me. Do they really think the bad guys are going to line up and hand in their hardware. I'd rather go the other way and arm the good guys!

Thats nice :-? , well you better make sure that if you use the bloody thing, the attacker doesnt get it off of you and use it against you! Ever thought about that?

I would say you shouldnt be carrying a knife end of but as breathingbrick has said, small little swiss ones are useful, i used to carry one, my bro does on his keys, cant think of the amount of times its come in handy for him (nothing criminal!!!).

I also carry a biro, and can do more damage with that. The knife is for opening packages etc. its kept in the small hip pocket on my jeans so itd take to long to get it out if being attacked.
