I'm 17 and plan on joining the RM as an officer after uni (so I have a few years) but am planning on applying for a bursary at the end of A levels (summer 2008) and have been getting in shape for a while at a slow and steady pace. I do about 5 sets of 25 pressups and situps a night with occasional breaks and climbing, swimming and soo rugby hopefully. I'm 6 foot and about 11 stone.
Do you think this is okay or should i change my plan slightly?
The workout leads to 20 sets of 20 pressups and situps (I also do cross country running).
Thanks for any info and help.

fogarty,
The following quote sounds more sensible. Especially the bit about
"getting in shape for a while at a slow and steady pace. I do about 5 sets of 25 pressups and situps a night with occasional breaks."
If it is of any help, I was 6 ft. and 12 stone when I joined the Corps. After I had finished training I was still 6 ft. but I was 13 1/2 stone. Stayed that way for 23 years.

20 sets of 20 pressups sounds like a lot!! That is 400 pressups in one go! That could be a world record!! You could be overdoing it!!The workout leads to 20 sets of 20 pressups and situps (I also do cross country running).

Just keep yourself fit. Don't overdo it.
