Info need on Firefighter please
Yea thanks. I believe that I could, although its easy to say that until you actually come to do it.
For that much responsibily the training must be very vigorous and tough, for them to be able to know you could handle it.
Does anybody have any sites or info on where the firegighter traid training is held. Info that would help me for my interview.
Any advice or help would be greatly appriciated.

Hello mate
Although there is a risk. you are likely to never see a real fire. Was talking to a big fat Flight Seargent. He has never had to put out a proper fire in 20 years. He looked like he had spent 20 years eating shite!
Not trying to put you off but not a lot happens. You just get very lazy

not sure if this helps but hese abit about the specialsit test you do when going through the recruitment process. i went last year for selection for firefighter. the 3 day course is at RAF Manston in kent. its a wicked 3 days. heres what we did. got there then spent ages waiting around for every1 to turn up. we got a security passes etc then off to the rooms. actually quite nice, rooms off 4 have you space corned off. we didnt really do much that first nite. few briefings meet the staff etc then went to the pub on site, played pool got to know every one. the next morning we had breakfas and was told the oputlne for rest of course.
you do all your usual stuff like lung test, flexibilty, weight BMI at the med room then its off to the gym
first test was bleep test, had to get to level 10, not hard at all part from one perosn didnt do it and was sent home! then straight after the bleep test you do your press ups and sit ups. again not that challanging.
then we all went to the kit room and was given the fire fighter kit. lol felt the part! sign for the kit then back to your room for a tidy up and a quick bite to eat
after this we went to the parade square. did a few drills and eventually made our way yo the ladder test. on the flight staffs command you climb the ladder, then go into a thing called a leg lock. if you have long legs or bulky thighs this can be a bit hard. once your in the leg lock you lean right back and tilt your head back so your looking at the floor and the FS shows u something and you have to identify it, then climb down.
then you go to the cage! this test is wicked, you put on full kit complete with oxygen tank and mask, but the mask is blacked out. you cant see a thing. then u and ur partner are led into the cage. this is a alrge cage plit up into loads of small cages, u cant sit in them bacuse not high enough aand there about 2 meteres long. and theres 3 floors to the cage you then have to find your way from one side of cage to the other. takes team work because theres obsticales blocking your way and not enough room for 2 people in cage so you have to communnicate to your partner. all the time the FS are hitting the side of cage making noise!
there are a few more test then but to be honest i cant remember them, i just remember having to do some more.
as the day was coming to an end the FS says there throwing in one more test, the hose run! he sed they dont normlally do it. after speaking to a few of the recruites who were actually training at manston they said that they didnt have to do it and that people in the past who did it was a pass or fail test. but for some reason our FS said it was and trust me to go fail on this test! the test comprises of running out a full lenth hose the winding it back up. sounds easy but itsd not!! i have been on the RSC for the army as well as this and have to say this was the hardest test ive had to do. you have to run in out and wind it uop 8 times in 9 miutes (i think?) unfortunaltly for me i didnt wind my last one up in time! the lads i met down there were wicked, althopugh we were only together for like 3 days i made some decent friends.
by the way sorry for my spelling am in a rush doing this as have a lecture in 5 mins
