At present I have sat my aptitude a few months back and was checking on the firefighter trade opening but I also had my eye on Police.
Infact in January the Police trade was in 'competition' but i didnt have my driving liecene then. I found out this week that it was in competition. So I was going to ring them up tommorrow. But in checking now on the website, there are two new developements in the trade.
1) Pay has risen to £16,000
2) You now need this 'Basic Skills Level 1 in numeracy and literacy, or equivalent.
Why have these new developments occurred and what is this 'Basic Skills'? Does the equivilent mean GCSE English and maths?
Also What is the required score for Police on the aptitude, I know firefighter is 56 i think, could anyone estimate what it would be.
If anyone could shed some light please it would be much appriciated, anything to help set my mind at ease.
Cheers

It means that the RAFP have been upbanded and recognised for all thier hard work
It also means that they have to have a basic level of education. Luckily that requirement is not retrospective or there would be a lot of Stn Feds sweating like a Pongo in a spelling test

PS I am in hospital so go easy on the return banter!
