Hi guys, exercise in the army?
hi guys
I'm Jack and i'm hoping to join REME as a vehicle mechanic.
The first question I wanted to ask on this forum is how much exercise is there in the army, and is it organised or are you self reliant. Searched the forums, but didn't come up with anything related.
thanks in advance
jack

hi
thanks for the reply
Yes, I just haven't read anything about the sort of PT say that the REME does. Needless to say the infantry train a lot, as its their main job. But just curious as to what mechanics and technician's exercise regimes included and if you were self reliant (that is, its up to you if you do exercise or not and if you fail the tests your're out) or if they are structured and you go for squad runs etc
thanks

PT is done at platoon level so you wont be the only one suffering if you find pyhs hard, just stay with the group, There is opportunities to do pyhs on your own if you want. There is Anual fitness tests you have to pass that involves a tab, timed press ups and sit ups. i don't believe the reme have to do as much pyhs when they get to there unit, I had a mate from basic that whent reme and he said it was quite laid back. hope this helps more.
dont daor
hello mate no matter wot regiment or corp in the army you still have todo your 10 week basic.
the fitness is standard so exspect todo abit unlike infantry you will do your trade trading after 10 weeks.
prepare yourself and get your fitness up so when you get there you will not struggle preparation is the key element trust me i was infantry/guards for 5 yrs.
dont go there with the wrong attitiude just get to a level of fitness you feel would get you throught without suffering to much.
dont worry keep you head up as you do 10 weeks and the infantry do another 12 weeks of shite after that.
i wish you luck mate and always give 110% thats the only advise i can give you.

cheers guys
yer the actual basic training, I shouldn't have too much problem with, its the press ups, that seem to be the problem (which is strange as I can bang out 20 arm-fully-extended chinups), i'll just keep banging them out and hope for the best, can't do any better then my very best, well apart from that extra 10%

A little spelling and grammar, please lads. We're all friends here, but before someone older and bolder bites your head off, just a little effort goes a long way
Surprising how much difference it'll make in terms of response to your post if people can just read it, rather than having to try to translate it at the same time

That lid suits you mate, makes you look somewhat taller!
