Hey I'm new

Post by nirv101 »

Been reading for a couple of months now so just thought I'd finally register.

Wanted to join 4Para around October at the next look at life weekend but having problems getting all the identification sorted (Passport, Driving Licence etc) so not looking like i'll be joining just yet.

But keeping hopes up and phoning the recruitment line to see what they say about it hopefully it wont be too much of a problem.

till then continuing with fitness to get myself ready.

so I guess thats my Hi :)

Well I finally found someone to sign all my ID and get it sent off but the parents are refusing to sign the forms.

Well more like mother is refusing to sign, dad would sign in an instant but of course has to stand by mi mum n all that :(

Something to do with how she would be worrying all the time while I was out and if I was safe when away etc and how my nerves wouldnt be able to cope with the stress etc. So following a huge argument I got the whole "thats final" treatment and not to speak of it again. So much for parents being mature, didnt listen to a word I said and had made there mind up before telling me. Gutted I really am :(

so looks like i'll be waiting another year or so before making any move towards the armed forces :-?

good luck to everyone else who's having a go for various selections and units wish you all the best and hopefully i'll join you eventually

regards

I wished I was younger, I would join in an instant.

Welcome mate, pity about the false start but its better to keep in with your parents, they can come in handy later....

just stick out the time until you can do your own thing, work on your fitness and gen up on the regiment's history - it's a proud one.

I'm 17 so I need parental permission. Dad would sign in an instant just for the chance to get rid of me for a few weekends every year (i'm that bad apparantly)

But the mother wont sign. A lad that I knew from school was drowned out at sea on family holiday and she doesnt think me putting myself in danger is sensible because she wouldnt be able to handle it.

I have enough arguments with them already so i'm not escalating it any further now but in the future its my choice not there's.

Just buckle down in college for now and continue slaving away in the pizza shop (joy)

it'll happen one day :D
