Hey guys,
I changed my mind, I've decided that I'll join as a medic in the Army instead of a nurse. Any medics here? Doc, you're one, right? If you could tell me about it, that'd be great.
Also, what do you guys think? My family is Iraqi, but I've lived in the UK for my whole life. Will I be safe?

But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...

I would give a great deal of consideration to becoming an Army Medic, before going for it. Having done my training at the same unit in Aldershot where Medics (Army, Navy and RAF) are trained, as well as where the Army promotion courses are held. I cant honestly recall many people having a good word to say about their jobs and there is not a huge amount of scope for work after life in the Army.
I dont want to bang on about my trade, but, if a Medical Trade is for you then it may be worth considering Army Environmental Health Technician, as it is part of the RAMC. Training is 2 years and provides a Foundation Degree in Environmental Health (good for future career prosepects when considering life after the Army) and there is also opportunity to be considered at some point during your career to top up the foundation degree to a full degree, where you will basically go to Uni part time and work with a local authority council part time and all whilst being paid your Army Salary.
Believe me, it is well worth having a look at, most AFCO's dont know much about the trade and some of my Army collegues said their local AFCO tried to tell them the trade didn't exist so you will have to ask.

Poor is the man who's pleasures depend on the permission of another.
