910 Troop - King's Squad

Post by Milesy »

Hello lads, currently in King's Squad at Lympstone. My mates from 909 who passed out last week who went to 42 are on rear party for afgan..that includes a king's badgeman who has been shoved into the store room. So any of you lads passing out before summer leave and are going to 42 will be rear party as well.
I pass out next Friday and want to go 40.

I can see the logic behind doing that as it would obviously free up experienced marines who could then go on the deployment.

But I'd have thought it'd be good to send the new guys on an operation like this so that they could gain some valuble experience and as long as they were spread out through out the Commando there should be enough experienced Marines round them to make sure they don't mess up.

But I'm sure they have a better idea of whats the best thing to do than me!

Don't worry about the rear party thing, there will be lads who get sent back to England for injuries etc
Who replaces them?? Thats it, the guys on rear party who are not biffs and just got dicked for it.
Rear party gets bigger, not smaller. Thats in my short experience i know this and from a captain of 27 years in the army.
Good luck when you get to your unit.

alrite fellas,
just noticed this site whilst dossin on the net bored off my t**s. I'm in afghan now with Charlie Company in Kabul and let me tell you it is gash. Thank god im coming home soon. Everything is happening in Helmand as you would of heard on the news with a few lads catching it up which is shit obviously. Up here tho its quiet as a mouse which you obviously can take as a good thing but like any bootneck a bit of action is good :).
45 are coming here for the winter taking over from the 5 scots, and i feel very sorry for them as even less happens in the winter and they are here for 7 months over Christmas poor bleeders as for 42 they are going South so it may be a bit more action packed as you can imagine.
The talk is 40 are back here oct 07, whether itll happen as everyone knows changes from day to day but yeh we go sierra leone in october for jungle training then im off for a nice ping, and a sigs course, im such a lucky boy, my own fault tho so gonna make the most of it anyway sorry for my life story. :)

Nice ping Tebbs. I came bottom of my S3's but had a great time - nearly had to do a retake (whole course believe it or not :o ) until the WO1 branch sponsor realised that was the preferred option for me. Mind you there wasn't much going on at the time...chad ex after chad ex. There's some good billets with sigs like 539, the RRT's in Y troop, BPT and the FAC teams (if that's your bag) but you'll need to serve some time in Comms Tp (the commando Gulag) before you get a crack at the last two. There's also SB sigs which had some kind of acquiant/selection when I was in but they seemed to end up taking brown nosers (as is the way of the Corps) and all they seemed to do was fart around on ship with you can't bend it kit or do safety comms. If my old mucker Gash Hand is looking in - you're not a brown noser - but you know what I mean
Stay safe Royal.

For Tebbs.

Mirror Mirror on the wall,
Who's the fairest of them all?
You are sigs without a doubt,
Thank you mirror Rodger out!

Was sigs for a few years until I escaped one dark stormy night in December. I was so happy to be free that I spent the rest of the night skipping and talking to trees.
