Hope that's not aimed at me bud. You know nothing about me and, if it is, you're well off the mark.Boney_Gildroy wrote: So before you go being all macho armed forces wanna-be, try thinking, it helps.

Think you meant www.mfat.co.ukWholley wrote:Scott.
In your situation I would check out our sister site.
Military fitness & Training.
www.mf&t.co.uk
Plenty of info over there.
When it comes to training matters that is a better resource.

As for your hayfever, the question will probably arise in the medical when they overlook your medical records
If it is over 4 years since your last prescription and you arent going for a role such as pilot (aircrew basically) then just state it doesnt affect you anymore.
As someone has said, MFAT is a good resource to post on and ask a few questions and to trade a few training methods with people who have done the training.
By the way, Welcome to the forums!

Re: General RAF regiment stuff...
It is I you seek!
And, I suffer from hayfever!
Thanks for the complimentary comments lads. Glad i seem to have helped some people out in the past
So, Scott. Where to start.
There has been talk of the RAF Regiment disbanding for years, in fact the first 'rumbleings' probably happened about two days after we were formed
The Regiments motto "Per Ardua" or 'through adversity' was actually used partly due to the struggle the unit had to become established. So don't worry too much about that. At present we are the only trade in the RAF that is actually expanding and actively recruiting. Just like being a security guard? Not sure the boy on the door of Tesco's has done 25 weeks of Basic, Trained soldier and Combat infantry training! Yes, you will inevitably spend some time stagging on the gate on deployed ops'. But this is not a Regiment job in the UK, where the duty is shared by all Junior ranks on the station. We don't just operate inside the wire either. 'Guarding an airfield' will just as likely involve the use of OP's, sniper screens and patrols.
So, not only do you get to do all the good stuff that the Army inf' do, you also get a single man w@#k pad back home and loads of decent food and kit!!
Hope this answers some of your concerns, any other questions, just fire away.
