Royal Marine Officer

Post by James »

Alright guys.

I'm at my first year at Uni, so I still have 3 years after this one, including a placement. I have been thinking about the joining the Marines again recently (I started an application during my AS's but decided to stay on to finish A levels) after I finish, as an Officer. I wouldn't mine a career in civi street so to say. But I just feel that I do not want to become part of the rat race. I want something more, I want to travel the world, be at the peak of physical fitness and have a diverse lifestyle which the Marines will give me. I just don't want to look back in 20 years time and think, what if?, when right now I have the chance to mould my own future. I have looked into joining the RMR until I finish uni, but im currently at Sheff in term time and the nearest one is Manchester, which isnt really convenient.

If anyone has got any experience as an officer, or have some knowledge of what being a CO is like, then i'd be appreciative.

Thanks

First step should be the RM website, second step your AFCO. That will give you an insite into the life and may help you to formulate your feelings into actual questions. Good luck either way. You could do much worse. 99.99% need not apply 8)

Yeh I have been to the website and sent off for an info pack. Bought some books as well to read up on. Will go to AFCO v soon, and i'll use the search function on here to do a bit more research.

Cheers

Once you`ve done all that, come on down
We can actually be quite "user friendly"
Don`t say I said, mind 8)
