Speaking of which, have you all seen the new Army Commando being raised to support 3CDOBDE? :o

Fark off Perce, we don't want you.
Don't mind them running our errands, but why make them a Commando, what's wrong with just having an attached infantry regiment?

That`s all going to end in tears, I can see it now  As the Great Bernard Manning once said " just coz a dog`s born in a stable doesn`t make it a fookin horse" Wise words indeed
"Oh no, fark me, it`s the Devon and Doughnuts Commandos"
Larf? I nearly got the round in :P

It`s the other good idea that Wacko Jacko`s come up with that really makes oi larf, the SF support outfit. :P They only want the best allegedly, so the entry requirements are a wee bit puzzling, :-?
The selection of individuals to the SFSG has been made from the Parachute Regiment, the Royal Marines, and the RAF Regiment. The group falls under the operational command of the Director of Special Forces and is part of the UK Special Forces Group. Members of the SFSG will retain the cap badges of their parent units and will also wear the SFSG insignia. All individuals within this specialist group have passed either the Royal Marines Commando course, the Airborne Forces Selection course run by the Parachute Regiment or the RAF Extended Airfield Sentry Selection course (regarded as the toughest Static Guard course to stay awake on, this side of the Top Secret Group Four Black Opps Guard Course). Each of these selection courses involves arduous physical selection and high quality infantry training, apart from the Crabs, obviously. The personnel are then equipped and provided with additional training to fit their specific specialist role on joining the SFSG.

I know a lad who's doing this, the 'special selection criteria' are none existent, they just asked for volunteers and pinged the rest. Sounds quite gucci tho. At the time (just after Chrimbo) he was just working with Royal, no crabs or pongos, not seen him for a while tho.

Scottish Lad, my understanding is that the entire Bn will have to be All Arms Cdo trained, but to me that still won't be enough - yeah getting their lids gives them more of a sense of identity and purpose - a lot of the army lads I've worked with are first class - but they're part of a largely Marine unit. A separate battalion will still think and act like Perce, just with more arrogance because they reckon they're commandos. If recruiting shortfalls really are that bad, fair enough, but the battalion should have to do the 32 weeks to de-perce them, which we don't have the facilities to cope with. Ultimately, there is no need for another commando, we just need manpower for rear end taskings; that's what Perce is there for, surely?! Just put a regiment under naval command.

Why waste money on our furry brown friends when they could just as easilly raise another Commando Unit and get real value for money,
