Joining the Marines, ADVICE plz

Post by Fifercommando »

Im new to this so firstly I would like to say hey.

I want to join the marines more than anything in the world! But Im not the fittest of people and have been training for the last couple of months (and will continue to do so) to get my fitness level up. I am however mentally fit and have a great attitude and I am very determined, I am willing to train 24 7 if I have to! I really want to be a royal marine!

I am wondering if it would be possible to join the RAF Regiment as a gunner for a few years and still be able to get a shot at the commando course? (either by coming out of the regiment then applying for the marines, or is there any other way ??)

a few years in the RAF Regiment should get me fit enough to pass the PRMC? (If I was to pass the PRMC I will not let myself quit!)

Thanks for taking the time to read this (sorry if its a bit long lol :P )

Get as much info as you can and go for the PRMC first, if its too hard for you, the RAF is the best option, that way you dont waste your time or that of the military.
You were only supposed to blow the Bloody Doors Off....

Come over to www.mfat.co.uk you will find loads of lads that are going to be doing there PRMC's and quite a few that have done it and passed, you will get constructive advice about training etc over there. It is the sister site of this one but you will have to register again.

If you've got the right attitude and are as determined as you say you are, keep working on phys and in time you'll reach the standard you need to be at.
Put in the time and effort to improving your fitness and I'm sure you'll be fine.

Fifer,

As said above if you,ve got the attitude and determination you say you have then firstly a) that will get you fit enough for PRMC and b) it will get you through PRMC once you get there.

If its the RM you really want, there is no point going for anything else, you will always think what it? or should i have?

good luck

Dwarfy,
