Para Insight Course?
After a careers interview I was asked to compare and take a look at some other Regiments and Corps within the British Army. I have previously done a look at life course with the PWRR and am quite interested in doing the weekend Para Insight Course.
Has anyone been on one of these? Would be interesting to hear about anyones experiences.
Thanks
T

Nice one, Ive looked on the Army site. Good to see what others thought about it. Makes me glad I've just got a proper gym membership sorted out. I'm gonna need it!
Cheers

Fair enough, I prefer to run outdoors anyway. The fact the gym is easy enough to get to and I get access to the pool aswell gives me more training options that's all.
Cheers

Thanks a lot. I’m fine for now as the website seems to have a fair bit of info. I’m looking to do a course in after my final exams (may/june), which gives me some time to sort things out with school/work and make sure I'm fit for it. There are many courses available so I shouldn’t have a problem. I also want to arrange a few other regimental/corps visits as advised.
Anyway thanks for your help and I'll let you know how things go in the near future.

Its easy, and fun. You will get a few minor beastings, do an assault course, log race and a few lessons of military themes. Nothing like basic training, there were guys running 13 mins when i went and still completed the log race. You will enjoy itTom_running16 wrote:Thanks a lot. Just a word of advice for anyone thinking of doing it. I spoke to the two SNCOs that run the Insight Course yesterday, and they said that a lot of the young lads turning up are very gobby. This isn't a good idea and will not stand you in good stead, so if you want to make a good impression screw the nut.

I wont be going there to muck around. We had the same on the PWRR look at life course, baring in mind those guys were quickly given the extra PT and 'duties' whilst we got some time to go off and do the fun stuff.
Yeah im looking forward to it, should give me a good idea of what life is like in the Para's. Cheers for all the advice.

Maybe ronnie can answer this one...
Do most of the people who are going through application attend this insight course or is it aimed more at young lads who are just leaving school and might find it hard to adjust?
I suppose if its free then it can't do any harm, but who am I likely to find there, Anyone and Everyone?
Cheers gents.

I went there some time around November last year, proved to be an amsuing experience. Most of the lads who went are around College leaving age 16-18 but we did have a couple of 20 year olds, one whom was doing the course pre-prmc, he did his prmc a week later and got into training, from what I've been told he passed recently and is now a Royal Marine.
All in all it's a good time, with a couple of beastings here and there, the training team are a good bunch of lads, and will only really punish you if they see you slacking, although admittedly the best part of the weekend was getting lost in the London underground on the way back up North
Any other questions feel free to ask, still seems like yesterday.

If you're interested in the paras the course is well worth it. Everything is paid for including travel expenses.
I had a great time, as with Prm most people there were 16-18 but there's nothing stopping you going if you're older I was 21 when I went. Most of the time consists of PT; expect early mornings and lots of running. Although you don't have to be fit to do the course it saves you a lot of grief from the PTI!
If you're serious about joining it's a good opportunity to prove to them you are good enough as they can then give you a reference when you apply for basic.
