Hello mate,
glad to hear you're doing the good thing and joining up. There is very little chance of you being posted to Germany or Canada in the Regiment. We no longer have a squadron in Germany  , there is an RAF base in Canada (Goose bay) where i believe there is a GDT section. Haven't heard of many people going there though. Maybe if you were an officer you could end up on the continent, places like SHAPE etc, but very rare. The Aussies have recently formed a Regiment equivalent unit, some guys here are getting out and joining that, but i think they are only taking SNCOs and Officers at present, but in 9 years time ?. It's true that the Regiment does give you very little of a trade as such to use in civvy street. You'll most probably have your HGV licence when you get out, something to fall back on. Quite a few of the lads go into telecoms, after doing loads of signals stuff in the mob. Many people join the emergency services. Don't forget, you can do further education while you're in, for which you get learning credits. And you get a resettlement programme on leaving, so can take a trade course of your choice then. Hope that helps a bit mate. Remember, as an ex serviceman, you'll be looked at favourably by most employees,

Good luck mate.

:D :D Fair one! Suppose if the interviewer was some ex-'guin who had been thrown out of a NAAFI window by some hairy arsed Gunner, then you might be better off trying busking instead!
