Nursery Rhyme Slaughtered By PC Brigade

Post by SO19 »

This is just unbelievable...
The 'PC Brigade' have caused another storm by rewriting a favourite nursery rhyme. They have changed Baa Baa Black Sheep to - Baa Baa Rainbow Sheep. Several nurseries have changed the traditional rhyme so as not offend ethnic minorities, it has been reported.

An old lady was told to remove her handmade Gollywogs from her market stall two weeks ago.

Seemed she was upsetting some of the customers.

Good owd Enid Blyton. Twas her who first mentioned Gollywogs in her Noddy books. They were naughty people who kept nicking Noddys Little TAXI!

Golliwogs were 'off the agenda' years ago.

If anyone has any doubts as to the celebration of multi-ethnic traditions without diminishing the English/British culture in our schools then please feel free to accompany me ..... anytime ..... round MY multi-cultural schools in inner-city Manchester.

The 'popular' press talks bollocks!

Not my 'views,' but FACT.

There is no more left-wing authority in this country than Manchester. I have had the privelege of teaching in mutli-ethnic, multi-cultural schools for 22 years and I can assure you that there is no 'editing' of nursery rhymes or hawking one religion / culture in favour of another.

This sort of unsubstantiated shite makes me spit!!

can't remember.
I had one that was wearing a firemans helmet, a Mr Plod, a normal one and several others that I can't remember.
My big sis proffed them and then promptly traded them for crappy Duran Duran and Wham! memorabilia  ....I've never forgiven her

I was born and have lived in Manchester /Greater Manchester all my life, one of my best mates is black and he would never take any offence to hearing "Baa Baa black sheep"

If anything trying to do this sort of think makes tension instead of getting rid of it, but i havent experienced any round here.

Much of this misplaced PC tosh comes from across the pond but it doesn't stop with nursery rhymes - Thomas had the Fact Controller's name changed in case it stigmatised fat people. Big ears has gone in case you have big ears and so much more!!!

I came from a left wing council school authority where the children sang 'the farmer wants a friend' so that at 5 the children could begin to learn the acceptability of same sex relationships!

The idea that if we change the words we use then we will change the way we think - change the way we think and we will change the way we act has beget this monster. Glad Manchester isn't as bad as some.

I went to a school last year where we had a Christmas play dealing with the animal at Christmas so that Jesus wasn't featured in case it offended our (lowest ethnic grouping in the country) religious sensibilities.

I detest PC and the stupidity that comes from it. After all there was report recently of a school authority who have removed the word history becuase it's her story too!

Etymology and common sense have left us people!

In the loverly old multi-cultural City of Coventry, where it`s all cuddly and warm and user friendly, the ethnics(to use a derisive Australian term) complained about the Christian festival which is traditionally celebrated in December. They complained that
a)it was mainly celebrated by white north europeans and
b) it excluded those who followed non-christian faiths.
As immigrants from the sub-continent they felt excluded by the city council`s habit of putting up "Christmas Lights" every December. Instead of being told "Yes, we do do that, because this is a Christian country and we do celebrate the birth of Jesus. We do so without malicious intent and that`s what happens in Christian countrys" it was decided that the ethnics had a point. Yes Jeremy I think they do, after all how would you feel if you went to Pakistan and were told you couldn`t celebrate christmas?

Result?
Cov puts up lights in late November to celebrate the festival of Divali or some other gig and replaces them in early December with the old Santa bloke and reindeer ones.

Now Janey, THAT is bollocks,

I don`t want to live in a multi-cultural Britain.
I don`t.
I want to live in a Britain which is primarily British, where immigrants recognise that fact and adapt the way they live their lives to suit the way we live ours and not the other way round.

But hey, guess what?
Lovely and warm in the pool tonight :P
