just came back from my prmc, medically discharged with snapped ankle! was on bottom feild did it all fairly ok...but went for the water jump and landed on 1 foot! Big mistake, ankle buckled and went snap!
got it pinned and medics say 6-10 months before i can retry.
anyone else had bad injurys and how you manage to stay focused when you gotta 6 month wait?

Lower-leg injury, it`s always waiting there.
Landing on one foot didn`t help, did it?
Unlucky mate.
Don`t be in a hurry to go back, get it sorted properly first.
What bone did you break because "ankle" is a joint not a bone and some breaks are easier to fix/ take less time to heal. Then there are the long term affects, like arthritus in later life.
Tough shit happens mate.
Good luck

Andy, i was in week 17 of training when i broke my ankle, (trimalleolar fracture) broke my tibia, fibia and talus. I also had my ankle pinned and was in hunter company for roughly 6 months before they told me i was going to be medically discharged. Consequently im a civi again.
As Harry said rest up well and take your time with it, you will get threaders at times.
Allways look on the positives and you'll be fine. Im sure you'll be back at CTC before you know it.

I shouldn't worry about the motivation thing too much either buddy. If somebody could fix me up 100% right now id be straight back to CTC. If being a Royal Marine is what you truely want you'll find the motivation, just dont flap and take your time.
(Im mega corps pissed and i was only in a year.)

Helpfull little bastard, you are Parker
Andy do us a brief heads up on the injury(i.e. which bone?) and I`ll get the Doc to write you up for some Brufen.
I`ll ask the old malingerer to drop by and give you a typicle prognosis.
See, those years watching Holby City were years well-spent
Oi Doc, can you have a look at this lad`s ankle mate? I think he`s broken his fibula. What d`ya mean there`s fack all you can do about that

Fibula who said anything about fibula?! (the magic edit button
)
If somebody could fix me up, the Corps would be my chosen career mate. But the PMO obviously twigged that i was broken beyond repair and thats why he discharged me.
Im hoping that i may be able to get some kind of surgery or special physio treatment here in civvi street that'll sort it. But so far all thats happened is my knee is getting knackered aswell.

Rugee, isn`t Talus the fourth planet of Gamma Triangle-ese six?
Didn`t James T Kirk have a seminal event with a transgenic amorphic creature called Doc there, in Stardate 37 94 point eight?
Kin knew it

i snapped 3 tendons , which apparently will take longer to heal than the bone for some reason. And have had to have an 'intramedullary pin' for a while.
the talus and calcaneus have fractures apparently, but not sure the dr.used all his mumbo jumbo i just nodded.
down ctcrm tho the medics gave me ample pain killers, was away with the fairys after taking them, was just like being very pissed.
but back in pompey now i have a chance to catch up on my boozing.
the moral of the story is tho, when your told to land on both feet, you farking land on both feet!!

Sorry Andy, in a frenzy of optimism and self-delusion I actually imagined an MA really would like to help you with his medical insight.
How sad am I then
Looking in me Skoolboy Book of Bones, I see that the talus and calcaneous are the two rear-most bones in the foot side by side. The big round bit is the end of the fibula. The bones aren`t such a biggy from what I remember and tendon damage can take ages. From the sound of it mate, you landed on your heel, instead of your toes, besides on one foot. which is even worse. So while you`re loafing about with a sick note, give me twenty for not paying attention
Take your time, do the physio, don`t rush.
Good luck mate
