changing services

hi ive got a friend in the RAF atm but he would like to into the army as he is not enjoying the RAF. is it possable to join the army with out comming out of the RAF then joining the army after that. also will it help you to go into the army if u have been in the forces before?

Not too sure how yu do it but it can be done, i used to date a lad who was army then he went permanent staff RNR anfd now is in the RAF. There is also a lad out here who was a Royal Marine Chef and he is now a reccie mech with REME.

Hi, I do not know if this will help you, but when I was on active duty back in the 1990's I decided to do the same thing. I wanted to join the Air Force as opposed to staying in the Army. So, I called the Air Force recruiter and I was told that because of my age and the fact that I had been in the Army so long it would not be feasible for the government to retrain me to be an Air Force soldier. I was dissapointed but I felt that what the recruiter told me was probably true because I did come into the military at 27 years old and the year was 1980 when I had joined.

The British and American Armed Forces have completely different recruiting goals.I don't think a Virginian can really advise an Englishman as to joining,Or changing Service.

Back when I joined the Bootnecks we had a couple of Army Lads and one Matelor who had transferred. Plus one Crabfat who had done the same. The Crabfat was in fact me. Ma would not sign the release papers to let me join the Corp so my Pop who was a Crabfat Flight Sgt PTI arranged for me to join the RAF and transfer once I was over 17 and a half years old.

As to what the form is now I am afraid I canna be of much use. The only alternative I can think of is Buying yourself out and then re-mustering into another service. Your time done in the RAF will be taken into consideration in relation to your pension in later years.

Ooops! I believe you are definitely right. There is no way in world that I could have a clue on advising someone in the RAF.

oli_vard......Are you nuts, you want to give up a nice life in the RAF for the conditions you would have to face in the Army.
