hi
i have recently joined the british army and i am currently doing my engineer training at gibraltar barracks.
since its winter and since i come from a tropical country,
i was looking into buying a proper thermal jackets for the colder times ahead
i have checked the snugpack versions and all the others
but i am not to sure which would be the best
i am keen into getting this one by mardale: permar jacket (£90) that is apparently a brittish army collaborated design.
though still cant make up my mind.
i would appriciate any advice from first hand experiences on these jackets

Re: good thermal jacket
Hi Gochetty,
Snugpaks seem to be the most popular brand if you're looking at a duvet jacket. Personally i'd go for a Buffalo mountain shirt every time, i've had mine 10 years now and it's still going strong, performed well in Norway and Canada. Also, it's not so warm that if you do suddenly have to bug out without having time to strip down it'll kill you of heat exhaustion!

Beret of blue, worn by many, earned by few!
