Under Milk Wood

Post by andrew_s »

I know its not a military-themed book, and it's originally a play, but it really is a beautfully written book , about a small, quirky village in Wales. The language used is quite rich (compared to most modern novels) which i found a bit full on at first but i eventually got into it, but the best medium of which to ''experiance'' it is on audio book.
As i've said before it was written as a play, and is best suited to this as it quickly changes from one character to another in quick succession, (which makes it quite hard to follow in book form) and i assume this is why it is known as 'the play of voices', so in a nut shell-it's good.

p.s Anyone else read/heard it?
Andy.

I've seen it performed as a play in the round (the audience sits in the middle, and the actors move round them) it was good. Was difficult for the english actors to maintain credible welsh accents though!
