Bigbart, we would lose a few lads every year through parachute mishaps, other would be killed on live firing exercises, when we were in the Middle East they would take you out for a ten mile run in full kit to get you used to the heat. Now with the tempartures hitting aroun 40c we lost a number of lads through heat exhaustion. Also we would be sent up into the mountains to fight forest fires, we lost a lot of lads doing this. Then we had people fall of the side of mountain while on patrol at night or doing rock climbing with out ropes while trying to get to villages that where known to contain terrorist. Then there where the the Champs, 5 forward gears and five reverse now you could go as fast in reverse as you could going forward. Now once we had removed the guvernors from the engines
you could race them at 100 mph plus in reverse, my that was heart stopping.

Grenade Launcher?
Well, Tab, it does sound like it was a tougher life back then. Things haven't changed much with the deaths on live firing exercises, though, have they? 5 gears in reverse? I suppose that could be useful once you get used to it. I wonder why they did away with it?

What about that for a new weapon![/quote]
Not much good without a bayonet. And don't try and tell you could use the KFS
