Dutch Holland his part in our downfall

Post by El Prez »

Dutch's lad has got a web site up and nearly running as part of the concerted campaign to keep Dutch's wagon on-site at CTC. I've never known Royal to be so unanimously mutinous about a decision by the REMFs.
Here's an email from Dutch, please us eth elink to the site and spread the word.
Praise Dutch and pass the brown sauce. As a famous American nearly once said.

Hello People.

Ok fella's here's a sneak preview of the web site; ignore some of the blurb
on a few of the pages as were still getting in different items that will be
added as they arrive. Hopefully it will all be sorted within a week. Check
out the comments book on the support page and feel free to use the
guestbook. The old man is just finishing his history side as we speak, and
that should be up later this week. We are also missing quite a few
photographs which are also due to go up soon. We would be grateful for any
comments or suggestions, so feel free to contact me.

Thanks again for all your support,

Regards
Dutchy

As for the initial question. "Would you have survived CTC without Dutch Holland". The answer is yes. CTCRM was still ITCRM and Jimmy Holland was still serving in the RM, not yet serving the RM.

Jimmy (Dutchy) Holland was a Royal Marine back in the late 50's early 60's. After he served his 9 years he left the Corps. He set up his first hotdog stand outside the gates at Bickleigh, (I believe). He eventually moved his operation to the gates at CTCRM. When Jimmy senior retired he passed the business over to his son, who carried on where his father left off. The Dutchy business has been part of the RM for at least 40 years and has been around from nods joining up until they retired from the RM 22 plus years later.

Dear Royals,

We are trying to get the word out as to the current situation, more information can be found at savedutchy.co.uk. So here goes and thanks in advance.

For nearly 40 years Dutchy’s Hot dog wagon has graced the confines of CTC, this time may soon be at an end.

The implementation of the new PAYD system (pay as you dine), has startling consequences for all military establishments
Throughout the UK. As Dutchy’s is situated in one of the trial camps we are perhaps the vanguard of the many small businesses that will soon come under fire from these faceless mega corporations. In the shortest possible terms these corporate giants have bought the rights to remove all competition from the field. And as such, your “basic right to choice”.

We do not wish to stop PAYD from being instigated; we only want the right to continue a service that has been a part of the Corps for many years. As for the people who have made these decisions, they neither use the service, nor appreciate its regard within the Royal Marines.

This is perhaps your chance to change that.

Thank You,
Dutchy

Dutchy,
Hope all goes in your favour.
I've never had the pleasure of one of your burgers, but my hubby was pissed off when I told him about the intention to close you down.

I'll circulate your webpage address, and hopefully get some more signatures for you.
All the best
Loz

Hi Again,

Thanks for your support loz, tell the Hubby he’s not the only one. The Petition goes out tonight at CTC, as yesterday I was informed that I should make my move now, and quickly. The support at the camp is expected to be very strong; we are having a bit of a problem getting the word out to Royals in units. Where we can also expect a positive reaction to our campaign, were hoping all the talk on the web will help.

My web Meister tells me we had 159 visitors at the site yesterday 22 from your site alone. Let’s just hope they all download the form and get them filled in. Not bad for a first day and a rush job. Thanks to the team for all there efforts, If it were left to me we’d have been in trouble as I’m the worlds biggest “Techno Donkey”.

And thanks also to everyone out there who’s taking the time to talk about this, It may make all the difference.

Regards,
Dutchy

This seems to me a simple case of removing competition by force, irrespective of the history of Dutchy's. If they tried it in a civilian situation it would be illegal. The PAYD stuff is fine in isolation after all cafes and burger vans are as much a part of military tradition as bad boots! PAYD stops duplication of your payment so its fine in principal, unfortunately where the MoD is involved there is always more to the story.

Mod sets up a restaurant business (and that's what it is)
MoD forcibly removes competition (surely this is contrary to section 69 of the competitions act 1955  )

I've got a good contact in the Express, she was down south on the 'Pilgrimage' as a reporter and I got to know her well. She writes feature stories, the indepth stuff and wrote a lot of stuff on the effects of 82. I'll have a word and see if she can make something of it.

Dutchy, can you pm me you phone number to give her. Also if she will get involved she will need a few interviews with the old and bold.

Wait out.....
