RMA Reunion Lympstone 13/14 September 2003

Post by Rotary Booty »

The weather in Devon this weekend is fabulous, so if you are within driving distance of Lympstone, get there by 1030hrs for the RMA Reunion parade which starts at 1100hrs on the Main Parade.

Military Forum members are meeting up straight after the parade dismisses, next to the large right hand, (as you look at the Drill Shed from the parade ground), Globe and Laurel on the Drill Shed doors.

If you are a recruit at Lympstone, ................ BE THERE!

We hope to post a photo/s of the get together as soon as we get back home Sunday evening. Digitalthingy willing!

The RMA Reunion was held on a glorious Devon day, and there were 4 Companies of the 'Old and Bold' on parade. They marched on to the band, every one of them in step from start to finish! Most impressive. The Buglers played Last Post and Reveille to perfection and I'm sure it carried across the flat calm waters of the estuary to the many yachts and boats.
You really missed a treat if you weren't there.
The first photo is the 'Official' release of the Military Forum Members who made it to the meeting point; JR, Rotary Booty and the Surprise member who I haven't seen for years! Does anyone else know this guy?
(Don't forget that e-mail *** we have some catching up to do!)

Image

This photo is the 'Unofficial' release, and was taken just as JR remarked, tongue in cheek, that my Corps tie was upside down! I didn't know this was possible, but, as usual, Jim was right, and I now know how to dress properly.

Image

Why not put it in your diary to be there next September, the jokes and quips were just like you remember! :P (Probably the same ones! )

(Thanks Jim for showing me yours. Although mine was much bigger, yours did more things, and went in and out quicker! When Stephanie pressed yours she said it was slicker than mine.
Aren't Digital Cameras just wonderful! )

Thanks for admitting in writing that you and Yorkie were 'absent from place of parade'.

Next year I'll arrange for the reviewing officer, or the padre, to announce during the service that all members of Military Forums are reminded that the meeting point is next to the right hand Globe and Laurel straight after the parade, and NOT, repeat NOT, under the King's Badgemens Board.

I think the drinks will be on you two! :drinking:

Sorry to sound like 'The Sgt Major from Hell' again, but did anyone see Fred Thompson at the reunion?

Fred posts on here on occasions, and is a 645 Squad mate, and an official, (secretary?) of the Nottingham RMA. He usually organises their RMA Reunion weekend when they all stay at a hotel in Exmouth.

My e-mails to him are unanswered, so if there is any news of him I would be grateful.

John_D

pm on the way. Thanks for yours. It was a case of 'Send three and fourpence, we're going to a dance' again. My apologies.
