It is SAID that more pilots died during training than died in combat during WW2. Is this true?
Is there a compilation somewhere?
How can it be split between Fighter, Bomber Commands, Coastal et al commands - when it is unknown where pilots under training were going to be assigned?

Training v Combat Pilot deaths
Re: Training v Combat Pilot deaths
There was a lot of people killed why training to fly, but I would not be close to those that died in combat. My father was with the Empire Flying Schools in Canada and helped set them up from 1940 and also worked as an instructor from the end of 1940 to late 1946 and he still got home.
