I hope someone can fill me in on a bit of British Army Regimental history from approximately 1840 to 1851. I've found an ancestor who was an army veteran. He was born and raised in St John, New Brunswick, Canada and ended up on Barbados.
Are there any ideas as to which regiment he may have joined in Canada that would have led to him ending up in Barbados? I'm assuming that it was through military service that he came to be in Barbados in the first place. Any possibility he would have went to the Caribbean via the UK? Thanks.
