Discharge Certificate

Post by Carl W. »

Hi,

Could someone please confirm if the attached document is an official Discharge Certificate?

Thank you for any info.

Cheers.

Carl,

Passed your enquiry to a number of former Royal Marines.
The view being that it is not a genuine article for a number of reasons.

How and where did you come across it?

Hi Rover,

Thanks very much for getting back to me and for forwarding it on for further checks, I appreciate it.

I received the photo of the certificate from a person who has always been rather dubious when it comes to telling the truth. One of his claims is that he had a career with the Royal Marines and produced this certificate photo as evidence that he had been discharged and was now in a different occupation.

I believe he perhaps did the 32 week training course but in truth, I do not know him well enough to dispute his claim to having followed through with the career after that.

I'm not a military man myself, although I do enjoy reading a lot of books on the subject (I will be sure to check out tha part of the forum covering that), so thought it best to check with those who would know if the certificate is genuine or not.

Is there any chance you could list a couple of the obvious reasons that it's not geuine? The first things that struck me were the layout, which is more like a CV, and also th lack of any authentification/signature, although it is only part of the cert that is visible in the photo.

Thanks again for your help with this.

Cheers,
Carl

Hi Carl. I would trust Rovers comments completely.

I left the mob fairly recently. I can categorically state that the above attachment does not contain an example of official discharge documentation or a genuine certificate of service.

I have also ran this past a friend who left 45 cdo last August.

It is clear this individual is lying to you. Ask him to prove by showing his last three pay slips..

Some where in my collection I have my discharge papers and it was in a book form which also gave me a sort of reference as it explained how I carried out my duties in the Regiment.
