Hello

Post by hc00 »

This thread is mainly a test to see if my new signiture works but I may as well use it to introduce myself.

Name: Craig Humphreys

Age 18 (In a month)

Hoping to join the Royal Marines to, amongst other things, make myself fitter, more disciplined, more confident, and over all a better person.

There is alot of experience good advice on this board, which I can learn from.

{EDIT} Why isn't my sig working...

I may as well do it manually

Im not going to have that sig on all posts, its pretty freaking huge lol.

I will attempt PRMC after I finish college, wich will be at most 6 months (which in my opinion isn't very much time), but may do it sooner as the course im on, i dont enjoy at all and its confusing the hell out of me lol.

E.G.
Whats the difference between a relational and an object oriented database?

Me : I dont know, pretty much none, apart from the name...

Now write a huge report which your course will fail if you fail it.

Me: errm, Is it okay if I write in size 182 font??

lol

But sticking with the course is good incase I manage to pass but dont have what it takes to be a marine.

Have you visited your AFCO yet? Go ASAP to avoid disappointment and delay.

I havent yet, I thought it would be easier when I am nearer to being able to start the recruitment process (When I am fitter and when I have either finished or quit college)

Why, is getting in touch with my AFCO as soon as possible a better option?

Thats the same thing i am going to do.

Im going to apply when iv finished college, so hopefully in that time i'll become much fitter than i am now. So my new years resolution is to become fit. So from new years til leaving college i have 6 months, that should give me enough time i hope.

The Application process

- Go to AFCO to express interest in joining the Royal Marines
- Fill in the application and security forms
- Sit the recruit test
- Have an interview with your AFCO
- Pass a medical
- Pass the PJFT (Pre joining fitness test)
- Pass the PRMC (Potential Royal Marines Course)
- Start Recruit training
You got a few things to do before PRMC, so don't worry about not being fit, your AFCO will give you advice.

If you wait until you leave college you could have a long wait, you might fail your medical, or they might not want you!

I waited a few months to go to AFCO after deciding I wanted to join, only to be dissapointed.

Wait if you wish, but don't get your hopes up!

I thought this was part of the PRMC

- Have an interview with your AFCO
- Pass a medical
- Pass the PJFT (Pre joining fitness test)
- Pass the PRMC (Potential Royal Marines Course)
- Start Recruit training
Thanks for detailing what the application process entails, its saved me alot of searching, well not that much probably but still. What kind of amounts of time can you have between each step?
