I remember when the CO and I were having a 'chat' and he raised the possibility of myself applying for a Commission and I replied ' I couldn't possibly work on a commission basis due to having a large family to support'. Fortunately he had a good sense of humour (I didn't apply for one).

You make your own luck Sully, well done. (As they say with golf, the more you practice the luckier you get!).

Good to see you have your priorities right with regard to your son, I have four of the beasts and they still constantly amaze me, even though they are now all near adulthood.

yep these Royals are a rough and uncouth lot calling people from the Army pongos, we reply with a rather tame 'bootneck' for them.

the Para's are part of the Regular Army and not seperate, Brian could join straight into the Para's as he could RM.

Sully - how did you become a lawyer with your background? Friends of mine had a son who passed his law degree but could not get 'Articled' because he did not have the right connections - wrong school, dad was in the Army etc. They explained it was all down to 'who you know'. Perhaps his degree wasn'...

Hi Dave, Pongo = where the Army goes the pong goes. (I am ex Army but not smelly) Booties feel free to correct if you disagree: A Commando is a complete fighting force; to achieve this self-sustaining role they need elements from the Army - Royal Engineers, Royal Artillery and Logistic support. Ther...
