Au contraire Rover, He should get on down to Stirling Lines on a briefing day and have one of the DS read out his form... Apologies for wasting a post on this chopper - i was only being helpful. The last time i did that was on bob-a-job week and i got a granny mown down in traffic so i should have l...

Morning Adj et al. Hows life treating you? I don't think there are any definate answers to this one. The official line is 32 when you start regular selection, but there are 'special cases' (and i don't mean the welsh lads) who do the course at a riper age. 38 being the most extreme case. Not sure wh...

Bad news chaps - We are going to have to postpone. I have just returned from the local University library (strangely the only library nearby to stock the aforementioned tome and other rebellion-esque literature...), and having attempted to loan out 'How to stage a Military Coup', 'The Anarchists Coo...

John,

I too think it's a grand piece of attire - did the man in the red suit bring you one?

I'd have asked for one myself but they don't seem to come in XXXXXL (Man) size.

CS

Mon-senior Lafite, Your wish is my command, I have commandeered the remote controlled Panzer bought for my Nephew's Christmas pressie and know the wherabouts of at least two T62 hulks in deepest darkest Wales that just need a cosmetic facelift. One is painted partially orange though. I can also offe...

Morning CL,

Can we not postpone until a week Wednesday? It's block leave you see and then it takes a week to get the stores together as you know.

See you there (i'll be the one throwing flaming white dog turds).

Regards,

Meister asked: What is the emphasis on during Continuation, if most civvies seem to fail it? Meister, It's just basic fieldcraft and small-team infantry tactics to a high standard. Civvies tend to fail as they are too busy concentrating on the immediate things (staying warm & dry, not looking l...

Guys,

As we're recommending books on the subject, may i suggest:

The Idiots Guide to Selection by May Pheethurt, and
Continuation for Dummies by Doug Biggoles.

and for the wannabie shakies:

MCT in a Nutshell by Bob Onnawave.

I'm here all week ;)

Hello Mfat_man et al, I realise the Quiet Soldier is oft-quoted as the unofficial guide to UKSF(R) Selection, but with respect it's factually a load of shiite (although i'll admit it's a cracking read!) It's about 20 years out of date, claims a few disputable feats and tells a fair few porkies. Fair...

Hello Andrew, Sounds a bit mince i know but an ex-missus of mine used to write all of her worries (and what she was going to do about them) on a pad by the bed if she couldn't sleep. The act of 'doing something about it' is usually enough to settle you down. Her problems all involved me though. Love...

Banburyboy/Ed, I can see from your earlier posts that you are a young lad (17?) interested in the RMR. My advice for you is to have a crack at that before you think about 21. It's a simple fact o' life that very, very few straight civvies get through first time. They often pass the hills but get sla...

King Duck, If you hate to point out my 'errors' - why did you? ;) Steer away! Actually there were no errors - only ommisions and differing terminology. The question asked 'do all SAS soldiers...' therefore i ommitted any reference to other units. The courses are a mess at the moment. PTS are struggl...

By jingo CL - have you lost your day job? That was a long one! A very negative post i must say, even for you. I tend to agree though - ease springs does come across as a walt, and lthough i couldn't care less about blokes walting it up - i do harbour a sick fascination with watching them squirm in T...

You dissappeared just before our week away in July and i've only just come back on these boards (it's been a busy ...

As you're bi/curious,

All SF troops do the basic para course (rounds) - this includes some attached units too (Sigs and Support)

All sabre/shakies then go on to squares.

Air troop/some shakies then go and do specialist (HALO / HAHO) etc.

Kinds regards,
