If I was you I would just go down in a pair of jeans and a smart top. Your in now, no need to impress for an interview. Its not as though the Full Screws are going to treat you any nicer because your wearing a whistle and flute. Just make sure you have everything you need as you wont get a chance to...

This is probably too late for you now. But when I enlisted all the main paper work had already been done. I can just remember afew of us standing in front of a picture of the Queen, saying the Oath and then being given rail warrants for where ever we were starting our training. It was all pretty chi...

A must read letter from Arnhem
(1) Private Ivor Rowbery of the South Staffordshire Regiment wrote a farewell letter to his mother before he took part in Operation Market Garden. He was killed at Arnhem on 17th September 1944. The letter was included in Last Letters Home, a book edited by Tamasin Day-Lewis. Usually when I write a ...

No theres no internal oxygen suply. Armoured vehicles have NBC packs that suck in the outside air, filter it a few times before delivering it to the inside of the wagon. This means you could stay closed down inside a vehicle for alot longer in a NBC enviorment than if you relied on a oxygen suply. P...

Its also missed Brick Hanging the greatest night in the Household Cavalry (Life Guard tradition) calender. A...

I might be wrong but I dont think you can join the Royal Engineers as just a Carpenter, Plumber, Bricklayer etc. I think these are secondary trades for members of the RE. But like I said I might be wrong. Also dont give the impression your only joining the Army to get free qualifications just so you...
