Re: Para training and getting ready
Good scores but I think you're doing too much and at risk of over training, especially the loaded running. The PFA route at Catterick is hilly and difficult, and the wind can slow you down quite a lot! If you're already doing 8 mins on a flat route then that's great but prepare for running on hills ...

No one has died from taking Creatine, don't be silly.
Although someone dying of dehydration during basic training is a dit that goes around, I heard the same dit when I was at Lympstone. It probably happened once and became a scare story.

Re: Need help in joining the British army
The best place to start will be local to you - perhaps you have a careers office for joining the British forces?
Your school / college should be able to point you in the right direction.

Re: Advice Required
Your best bet is to contact the AFCO, give them a quick telephone call.
They expect all sorts of questions like this! So will probably be able to answer or find out quickly.
Best of luck.

Re: SA80 weight
Yes I get the idea. But once you start recruit training you won't do load carrying etc for some weeks and the time and effort you spent doing it won't really have got you anywhere. The best thing you can do is ensure your CV and running ability is as good as it can be. CV is the foundation, everythi...

Re: Royal Marines
Start with a "general fitness" approach for a few weeks, depending on your level of existing fitness. The gym staff should be able to help with this. Don't let them talk you out of doing things outside the gym though - outdoor running (light jogging if you are unfit and starting out) is im...

Re: Joining the military with a conviction.
In brief.
Everyone has a past, and it can be overlooked if it's not too bad.
It will not do you any favours, but be honest about it if you apply.

They repeatedly show you a picture of a chicken, and say "What's this?"
You have to respond "A banana."
If you do this enough times, convincingly, you're in.

Re: SA80 weight
Nice idea, but wouldn't worry too much about that if you're pre-recruit training.
Things like weight (bergen/daysack) and so on is introduced gradually during training.
