My tuppence worth on muslims in the UK
This is the response I wrote to a thread on a music forum. Another bit of trivia I remember is that WWII German paras were the first troops EVER to use DPM camouflage. And it soon spread to the uniforms of other German units. Matt, this was discussed just a short while ago. From what I can remember from the discussion, in the early days of the paras wings were worn in various places on the jacket it being a new form of badge for a new unit, before finally coming to rest on the upper arm. I don't think there's any more si...

Swedish elite units
Working as I do for the Swedish MoD, I thought some of you might be interested in some info about Swedish elite units The ranks in the Swedish armed forces are still conscripts, who usually only serve between 8 and 15 months. But this is due to change in the next couple of years because the vast majo...

Fallschirmjäger is still the German word for paratrooper. In Swedish the word is similar, Fallskärmsjägare Interesting fact is that the German paras of WWII belonged to the Luftwaffe not the army. Fallschirm in German and Fällskärm in Swedish simply mean parachute Jäger (German) Jägare (Swedish) lit...
