If you are serious about learning about the army, becoming a soldier and contributing to the nation, join a TA Reg rather than an OTC. The OTC is good for drinking, pulling, adventure training and adding more beer tokens to your Student Loan. I have experienced both sides and recommend the TA if you ...

It sounds daft but relax. Read "The Week" and "The Economist". Mentally rehearse your interviews (Q's that you know will come up). Be positive in every aspect. Don't drink too much. Enjoy the experience!!!

I had an interview in April and they said that they would send instructions for a POC but not to expect a speedy response. I suppose after 5 months I should chase them. I am meeting the Gurkhas in December as well as a few Cavalry/Tank Regiments. I may be a little aged for the Paras at 24 pre ...

Its a great day! Woolich is fantastic. It is mega informal and you have a chat with Col Tindall about your plans. Its more a confirmation for him I think. Its a meal and a few chats, a look at the silverware and a swift half. I recommend going to the Artillery museam which is over the road.

Absolutely nothing!! Working with them has cemented my intention to pursue it as a full time career. They are a great bunch and I hope to keep in contact with them. I have a confirmed place at Sandhurst for January and am trying to find out as much as poss. about Regiments now, as time will not ...

I was told that 1500 filled out the forms when I went through it. Got to be one of the hardest jobs to get in to with around a 2% start rate never mind finishing the year!

Yeah I have heard the same as Pasha. Basically landowners which family wealth going back generations. As iterated, this helps with the Mess Bills, Balls, Polo etc but this is a generalisation. I am trying to find out more and hope to meet them soonest.

That was my main concern. I do not have a typical Cav background and went to a Grammar School in Shropshire. The RAC assure me that this is not an issue but I want to be able to enjoy my time with the men and my drinks in the Mess. I am in TA Recce unit at the moment and that side appeals (plus the ...

Gentlefolk,
I am currently researching regiments and have become interested in the Queens Dragoon Guards. I was wondering if anyone had had any dealings with them? They recruit from my home county and I like the idea of Formation Recce (although not sure how you sneak around with 8 30 tonne tanks ...
