I don't understand what 20/60 means but apparently if your eyes are like this you can still fly.
Can someone explain mine to me
My left is -0.75 while my right eye is -0.25 ...

Re: What about sleeping?!
The fact is, human adults need 8 hours a sleep a night to remain healthy. Anything less is unhealthy; after the first 5 weeks or basic training, do you get a full 8 hours?

Re: What does the RAF need right now?
Anyone know what kind of soldiers/officers the RAF is in need or a shortage of?
I'm not RAF, but you should really be visiting the AFCO. Also it sounds as though you will join and do anything (which sounds desperate), what you should be doing (IMHO) is figuring out what you WANT to do then ...

Re: Any point even joining this year with defence cuts?
However I was looking at FJ (lol like everyone else) but the RAF is out of the question for me, my eyes are not 6/6 but fall within pilot standards for RN (did quite alot of reading up on this) although a helicopter pilot doesn't seem too bad to be honest.
I'd suggest a trip to the AFCO and sort ...

Re: Any point even joining this year with defence cuts?
Depends on what your aims/ambitions are?
If you want to fly Helicopters then I'd suggest you carry on with the application, the FAA have a large fleet of Grey Lynx, numerous Grey Sea King and Merlin all needing manned either by Pilots or Observers. They also still have CHF with 3 Sqns of Sea King ...

Any point even joining this year with defence cuts?
I've been considering joining the RN, specifically the fleet air arm after I finish university this year. However, with the recent defence cuts, is there any real point? Our carriers will be getting decommission, coupled with over 6+ years of building the new ones.
