Well, I have recently done it, and it involves mostly admin and a few briefs on health, fitness, medical. Also you get a fitness assessment with bleep test and push-up, sit-up tests. obviously you will begin to march around camp too so a basic intro into that as well as recieving your boots.

Hope ...

why hurry to pass you and then leave you hanging?

I realise in some form or other this question has been asked before but none recently. I waited four years to qualify for the RAF ( am half South African) and in December I got called saying I could apply as my chosen trade was open for the first time in 6 months (Aircraft technician - mechanical ...

How many people on any forum can actually honestly say they read the 'Terms of use'? The same kind of people who before installing anything new on their PC reads before clicking 'Next'?

Sure I get that Sully, but surely making an issue out of nothing is wasting everybodies time. Constructive criticism is far more effective, something one learns by the packet load in the forces.

there are far too many people like LondonBoy cluttering the worlds online forums with silly time ...

LondonBoy, if things as small as this get you irritated, I hate to wonder how you react when a bus doesnt wait for you or somebody doesnt move out the way on the pavement. Take it easy mate, he was only cutting corners on typing, and by the looks of things you have a lot of spare time (over 300 ...

Any fellow South Africans joining the RAF?

Im aware many South Africans go for the army, but thats probably for the passport! I have yet to meet any Saffas at my AFCO, just wondering if anyone on this forum has South African connections, and/or has been through the hell I have trying to qualify for the RAF!

If so get in touch!

True......So basically they are a brain-washed country at the end of the day. Never been there but sure sounds fun, kinda like visiting a wax museum but they are actually alive

Okay so some of the small info was wrong and maybe my US friend is a bit 'ignorant' (well she IS American :-) not to read up herself.....but surely in completing any military intelligence course in the US they refer you to mistakes made in the past? Or am I just making no sense still?

Does anybody in US actually know the truth about military?

Now I know this has been posted all over the place before. But this specific example just made me laugh (in a kind of grin/laugh combination).

A female friend of mine is currently in USAF intelligence and was in US navy before that. I saw her recently and just in passing mentioned the occasion ...

Actually I can relate to your second point too. In SA we also have completely different school systems and the AFCO didnt have a clue what it converts to in UK terms so I had to do a bit of searching and found a university in the UK that had a method of converting my results so I had a better idea ...

Regarding your first point I am currently undergoing the application process myself for the RAF, not gunners but should be similar. I am South African (commonwealth) but with a British Passport and have had to wait three years to apply despite being part British. At first I questioned it as it seems ...

History repeats itself, religious wars have been around for centuries. trying to be pals with every religion and culture is no way to prevent hatred.....its just human nature....we stick to our own. No matter what we all say, we are all rasist......but not all evil.
