To me there are two schools of thought on this one.

1. I can do 99% of the recruitment process over the next month or so minus my time at the AFDC. Then I can return to Canada (I get free health care there) and have the condition taken care of and then return to the UK for some final inprocessing ...

That's good to hear. Do you think I should declair it when and if I do my AFDC weekend? I would hate to have to defer me or something, but then at the same time I would hate to get in and have it start to cause me problems and then be accused of not being honest and trying to hide it you know?

I ...

I have a minor case of a pilonidal sinus, which for those of you who do not know is when a small 'hole' develops in the cleft of the buttocks that can cause discomfort. I have included a link in case anybody is confused:

Anyway as I say, mine is very ...

Leaving during Basic

If you are in initial training for Infantry over Christmas time do you get leave for Christmas or do you train straight through. In my case being from Canada, if there were leave would I be premitted to return to Canada?

Just curious.

I think my thought now is, not so much not wanting to do the Army, but more the route I am taking into it. I did University for awhile and I think that if I had just finished it, or went to finish it, I could apply as an officer. I've heard they have a higher quality of life in terms of facilities ...

Yeah see those are my thoughts exactly. Some days I am jacked to get right at it, and others I think maybe I should have stuck with the University.

I spent a lot of money to come here, so you hate not to go through with it. But then I think if I am not totally committed, than like you say maybe it ...

Second thoughts?

Did anybody else have or is having second thoughts about their decison to join the Army?

It's funny, speaking personally, how jacked I was at first but now that I am here in the process all those other opportunities like University seem to always be in the back of my mind. It is an odd experience ...

Limit on number of Commonwealth Soldiers?

I am from Canada as some of you may know. I have recently come to Sheffield in order to apply to the British Army (I did not apply from overseas, but rather came here on a Visa)

Anyway I am just killing time while I go through the process here (BARB Test is next Wednesday, although I am going to ...

HAHA None that I can think of. It is more because I am wanting the process to happen ASAP as it is expensive to live here in England while I am waiting. I was just curious how long a process it would be more than anything else.

Vetting process for the Infantry

I was just curious what kind of background checks (if any) are involved with joining as soldier entry with the Army. The reason I ask is that I have lived most of my life in Canada, and was curious as to what they would want from authorities back there.

Thanks

Royal Regiment of Scotland vs. Scots Guards

Just looking at Guards vs. Regular Line Regiments. I know the details of cerimonial duties, I am just curious how often these Guard Regiments get deployed. Have the Scots Guards for example been to Afghanistan or Iraq yet?

Thanks.

I had originally looked at Infantry, but thought seriously about the RAF Regiment when I made this profile. Now I have decided to go with my original desire to join the Infantry.

Originally I was looking at coming to the Bolton/Manchester area. But after doing some research on the different ...

Royal Regiment of Scotland

Does anybody happen to have an e-mail contact for recruiting for the Regiment? The one on their official web site does not seem to be working for me.

Thanks!

HAHA Thanks EH! :)

Right now I am looking at all my options. At first it was all Infantry for me, I have always had an interest in it and both my Grandfathers served in the Infantry in the war- One in Britian (he was British) so it would be nice to carry on that tradition. Then after I had my ...
