Eagle, where about in Canada do you live? I am also considering joining the British military and would not discourage you. However joining the military in your own country is a big decision, let alone choosing to go around the world to a new country and all the adjustments that go along with that ...

the airborne don't use slings, so it has even fewer redeeming features for me.. SUSAT is great, M16 with a SUSAT? That would be just the ticket..

A definition I came across.
PONGO: used by sailors to refer to infantry. it is based on a primate found in SE asia , which, when subjected to stress, ran in circles and dug holes in the ground to hide!

I thought it seemed a bit odd. Of course the ground dictates to a far degree, but to kneel all the time would seem to be a death wish! Easier on the body though, at least until the rounds connect.

just got back from a training EX and we were doing mostly section and platoon attacks. someone mention we should do it like the British and only take a knee (we go to the prone) is this true? it would enable faster mov't which is vital, then again you provide a bigger target. I wish we had only ...
