Statistic, as a fellow RMR recruit I can fully understand your decision. I joined in October 2002 and am still a nod! This is due mainly to and injury suffered on Final Ex during the final yomp (to this day my hip is not right....randomly get agonising stabbing pains, nobody has been able to ...

Well done lads. Good to see you are prepared for the worst. Best way - that way things always seem better than you expected! You seem to understand what to work on. I was also shocked at the intensity of RM phys sessions. Just practice by beasting yourself in a park - you will now what to do after ...

A T-Shirt worn by many when 'relaxing' (ironing, washing and preparing for the next day) at CTC. Should really have picked one up myself!

Yeh Chester you are spot on. Started with over 60 I think. We are down to 26 I think although we have picked up a few backtroopers recently. They seem to have slotted in nicely and are getting on well I think. They have told us (RMR Mersey) that we are a particularly strong recruit troop and that ...

Point of no return!

I was just wondering if any of the lads on here with green lids (or any without!) had an opinion on what stage of training tends to reach the 'point of no return'. Obviousley most will tell me the completion of the 30 miler! However, I was just thinking surely after lets say 20 weeks for somebody to ...

Voodoo Sprout is there any chance you could send me a copy of that video? I saw one of the programmes but Discovery Channel seems to be a bit random with its schedules.

Well said jonboy. Common mistake this one. It tends to be a myth in the civvie world that to be a Marine you must look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. In my RMR troop (out of 30 guys approx)only one guy is built very big. Also he tends to struggle on the speed marches and load carry! The rest of the ...

My run down of the 2 weeks wasn't the best. I apologise but after the first few days it becomes a bit of a blur in my mind. It was my first 2 weeks away with RMR. I will be doing my RFCC (Reserve Forces Commando Course) in February 2004. Plenty of practice time on the ropes and regains and general ...

Yeh they are still after the NCOs. Nods can dream though. Most the lads didn't use the £4 service. I washed most my kit in the sinks with a brush and elbow grease. Used the Dhobi last night so I could join the other lads at Jollys for several post course celebratory drinks.

Actually my Dad is very old! Yeh, sorry didn't mean to sound patronising just a misunderstanding. The Dhobi girl works at 'The Dhobi' £4 for a bag of washing cleaned and dryed. She is hot! All the lads love her. We even saw her when we went ashore to Exeter on the Saturday. That girl has her own ...

Well when I say Dutch Marines I mean the RNLMC wearing the Blue and Red beret. It was actually our Sergeant that said 'I want you back here in two weeks looking a little less like Dutchies(RNLMC)....lets see cap comforters'. I do understand ALL the headgear facts. I swear. And my Corps history is ...

Just returned from CTC

Hi. I just got back from 15 days at Lympstone doing my Phase 1 Alpha Course (Royal Marines Reserve). I'm glad to say I passed the course and earnt my cap comforter. No more Dutch Marines for me! During my time there I had a go at most things. Much of it was aquaintance to the Commando tests. Bottom ...

Think he still is wearing Corporal rank slides but everybody calls him Sergeant. Being the grey man I always aspire to be I don't ask any questions! Turns out he isn't coming to CTC with us. He was giving us a session with the ropes on Tuesday. I am crap at them but just love it when he shouts 'Hit ...

I have been in training for 7 months I think. Going to Lympstone Friday. I missed quite alot of training with a breathing disorder(see post from about 3months ago), came close to having to hand my kit in and call it a day, but worked my bollocks off pounding the pavement, visiting doctors and ...
