Weights is a good route to go down as long as your not doing it too often, you don't want to pack on size or body weight because you will struggle with all the running times etc

You could buy a bleep test kit if you don't already have one. It's the same as anything that is required when training for the PRMC, the more you do the better, stronger and fitter you get, do give up just stick with it.

Couldn't agree more with you Steve, you do have time to train so be careful not to over do it, aim to increase whatever training that you're doing slowly with a good warm up session before hand.
