I guess it will depend on what det you are at, for example I know the holding troop at RMR London anyone can turn up once the presentation has been attended. Where as other units require you to have completed all of the admin before joining the troop. In your case as you are already in per say I am ...

When fully fit again why don't you give the RMR a go. You will learn all the skills required and put you in good stead if you ever decided to go Regs. Plenty of lads do RMR before going in as officer and regular nod? Portsmouth det is part of RMR London, maybe worth thinking about. Good luck with it...

I don't think they are necessary. There seems to be plenty of potential recruits coming through from all types of places without advertisement so why bother? I agree with Fodd it's about getting the right chaps though the door.

Good luck to us all!

No worries matey, Yeah you will have no problem in getting the admin out of the way by then. The sooner you get it done the sooner you can start HT which is very worthwhile. The Selection weekend will be at Bristol anyway as all the dets meet at HQ for the weekend. There will be no issues in getting...

Re: Advice

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to these forums so apologies in advance if I say anything out of place. I've been interested in joining the RM for sometime now and i'm at a stage where I want to give it a go, otherwise I may regret it in years to come. My nearest Detachment is Bristol, but I'm mostly like...

Depends on what unit you are at. Bristol for instance the press ups and sits ups are done to a bleep. You may get away with missing one but if they see you missing a few you will be pulled out. The guy counting you will only count when your chest hits their hand. Seb, yes I have and I am sure the ne...

I was told on Wednesday night by the recruitment NCO that the physical tests that are undertaken on the intake weekend will be pass/fail from now on in. If you do not make the required grade/levels you will be held in HT until the next intake, 6 months later.

I have just about finished 'Above all, courage' by Max Arthur. It’s a book of personal stories from the Falklands War. It is made up of accounts from serving members of all the forces involved in the conflict. It is chronological order from start to finish of the campaign and is the most enthralling...
