Hola,

Hmm all the guys on my AIB were clean shaven and had short hair. I think it just depends what longish means. Pony tail would be a no. Just on the collar surfer bum style a risky maybe. Could you get away with them with a beard...not sure. Ultimately, they'll make their assessment of your ...

Sunday Nights,

This sounds so familiar, I was in exactly the same place 2 years ago. Suddenly i thought a career in the Navy was a good idea. I put some trainers on and thought I'd go for a run to a friend's house. I made about 500 m before I thought my lung had burst and I had to stop adn walk ...

Well they've changed their minds at least. I'm not too fussed. Try not to go in there regardless of what I'm wearing, but a victory for common sense if nothing else.

Sorry mate but the Navy say it's a no-no

These may well be blanket restrictions across all 3 forces. Best bet is to keep at your AFCO for final clarification.

Good luck

It's not going to get you marked down for looking too smart, the other way round however... You can always put your jacket over your arm so you're just wearing shirt and tie

Good luck with everything

Hi,

Just thought I'd let you know that I got a distinction for the work I did on PTSD. I would just like to say a massive thanks to all of you who offered advice. You gave it a personal angle and helped me to understand the true gravity. Oh I got in the Navy too.

Massive thanks again guys. Hope ...

The Economist. Pure and simple. I bought 2 copies before mine and used 2 articles for the essay I wrote. The analysis is excellent and the articles are concise and therefore quite easy to remember.

The BBC News Special reports:

are also very useful ...

Thanks so much for all the replies.

The evidence does seem to support TRiM as being beneficial as it identifies personnel who may be struggling and gets them specialised help sooner. The process of compulsory debriefing which occurred before has been shown to be more harmful to recovery than no ...

Debriefing following exposure to trauma

Hi,

I'm a third year Medical Student who's currently applying to the RN. I'm doing a research project into the protocol within the military after personnel have been exposed to traumatic incidents, particularly looking at any debriefings which may occur and if these are compulsory.

I realise this ...

Debriefing after trauma

Hi I'm currently in the URNU and am applying to the RN to be a Medical Officer.

I have to undertake a research project into psychiatry and mine is on PTSD, its prevention and subesquent treatment.

I was just wondering what the protocol is for a service personnel member who has returned from ...

Hi Katie,

I think the only thing you can do is talk to the doctor when you're at your medical. It's all very subjective and the doctor can request a letter from your specialist if he's concerned so it may fall to your consultant to have the final say. It's out of your hands so try not to worry ...
