Re: Appeal after medical fail...
Just got back from selection up in Glencorse today. I got medically failed for an old knee injury that causes me no pain or discomfort whatsoever. Failed because my left knee hyperextends half an inch more than my right.
Stupid IMO.
Was just wondering if anyone had been medically failed for ...

If memory serves, one of the programmes that Ray Mears does had an episode that examined the role of the Belarussian partisans in WWII. Obviously his take on it was predominantly looking at the survival techniques employed by the fighters - he even managed to get some of the surviving members to ...

Re: 4 PARA SHARPSHOOTER
I am currently a member of 3pwrr and am considering a transfer to 4 para croydon. Do 4 para have a sharpshooter carde?
AFAIK, there is no such thing as a T.A. sniper course. I have been told that previous to the 1998 SDR, it was possible for blokes to go on the regular course (6 weeks?), but that ...

I'll probably be doing it again this year. Bit of a way off though, hence perhaps not getting any replies. It's certainly a good way to test your fitness - I understand the route is the same at the 10 miler done on P-Company, but then you probably know that already! Of course, it is ever so slightly ...

Re: Para jumps?
I don't know figures, but one of the Sgt's on the 4 PARA insight weekend said they often jumped more than the regulars! I would assume that means "lots".toneuncagefire wrote:Anyone know how many jumps you are likely to get, per year, with 4 para? Also is the return of service 3 years or 4?

2008 Training Review
Earlier tonight I reviewed my training from last year. I wanted to see what kind of hours I'd been clocking up, with a view to making a plan for this year. If truth be told, my "planning" last year was mainly done in my head, which of course means it was subject to a lot of change as time went by ...

Just to add my two penneth:
I'm one of these strange guys who actually finds the treadmill harder than running outside. That is to say, if I run outside at a particular pace - say, 15kph - and then run on a treadmill at the same pace, I find the treadmill to be a lot more work. I've found this to ...

2 & 3 PARA came back from Afghanistan at the end of October, so I imagine they're having (or have just had!) some well deserved R&R :D No doubt they also had some 4 PARA guys with them who were mobilised.
