If you are still looking to contact me, go to www.prmc.co.uk. I have got my own section there and it's easier for me to get back to you.
All the best,

There are no more Marines in Northern Ireland, Op BANNER is now finished so no one is serving there anymore. I don't think there are any Marines in the Falklands either but I'm not 100% sure.
We serve where we are required, we are not SF and are not involved under the radar. If we are deployed ...

Because they are going to Afghanistan next, it's good to know that the Recruits are keen to get stuck in asap! Best of luck with the rest of training.

It depends upon the function really, they are usually invited to mess events such as the Summer Balls etc but may not get invited to events that the Officers and SNCOs have together such as the piss up after the Boot match. It depends upon the Mess and whoever organises these events.

You do a year as a Troop Commander and then change jobs but you may get another Troop Command for two years. It depends on many things, luck being one of them. If you never want to work behind a desk then don't join as an Officer, you have to do some deskwork even as a Troop Commander. That's why ...

Good effort for getting on this site. I am trying to get as much accurate information on here as possible and it's good that you've stepped in to help out.
How was crash action and the tests?
Best of luck with the rest of training, relatively downhill from here.

But isn't that only to those who are either graduates or 21 on year of entry? (Obviously being a gradute would make you 21+)

Edit: On the subject of Graduates, the pay form I was sent from AIB says Gradute 2LT is £27,000 and non-graduate £14,000, after phase 2 is everyone on the same banding ...

Yes, as an RM Officer, you'll be a Captain two years after you enter Lympstone.
Officers are back-batched if they get a severe injury. They then do recuitment things etc and wait for a year until the next YO batch comes through. They don't bin you straight away unless you can't be fixed.

I think I have probably proven myself to be a bit naieve with the use of the forum. I can assure you that the information regarding the Royal Marines and in particular the Officer specialisation is correct. I have served in Afghanistan with elements of the army (Royal Anglians) and the Corps. I ...

Alfa,
I have had a few messages regarding the Parachute regiment and wanted to offer some of my thoughts on the forum regarding Royal Marines training instead of replying to them all individually, I thought this was fairly obvious. Just read my post a little bit more carefully next time.
Are there ...
