Best of luck Warlie! There are hundreds of running training programs about, so I wont go into that, but the main thing I'd recommend (despite it sounding obvious) is to really, really push hard on every session. Look at it as if every time you go out you're doing your test, always, always put in 110...

So when you are on basic how often and far do you run? Every day? We started off running around 3 miles over more or less flat ground, then we did 4 over hills, and began increasing the distances slowly from there. I think the furthest we ever ran was 7 or 8 miles, but its hard to tell because ofte...

Great new mate, top job! I love the pictures but was wondering what cap badge is being worn by you (??) and the other lad facing the front? the 5th pic. Cheers Tom That's the cap badge you're given when you first start - I'm pretty sure its the coat or arms of the royal family, but I could be mista...

when you say you struggled with the running, how far and often do u actually run? every day? Before joining I ran with a running club twice a week, varying distances, normally between 5 and 8 miles (mostly steady with a bit of fartlek) on a thursday and 1 to 3 miles faster but with more recovery on...

I'm off to pirbright too but not until next march We did around 6 tabs if I remember correctly. We eased into it, with our first tab being something like 14kg over 3-4 miles, the har...

The fitness was tough for me, I struggled with running, much preferred the tabbing! The thing is, even though I was often at the back of the troop on runs, the PTI saw I was putting in 110% on every session, so I didn't catch as much hell for it as I'd perhaps expected :) that isnt to say I wasn't &...

Royal Signals it is :) Phase 2 for me is 39 weeks long (Comm Sys Eng), although we were told its changed slightly on our Phase 2 visit and may now be longer than that. Phase 1 was quite a bit different in some places than I'd expected - the first week was both boring and intense - lots of stuff thro...

Phase 1 ATR Pirbright 15/6 - 18/9
Hi everyone I just wanted to make a thread, I passed out this last friday at ATR Pirbright, and I'd been using these boards (mostly reading rather than posting) for a good couple of years before I first joined. This place helped me with training for selection, and for phase 1. It gave a good insight...

Surley if your Dad was in the Royal Signals why dont you just ask him what day to day life was like and what he got out of the role? Think that would save alot of peoples time including your own? Believe it not, I have asked him - however he's not been able to give me the sorts of information I'm l...

One of the reasons I'm concerned could be best summed up by seeing things like this post: http://www.militaryforums.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?t=18426 I know that being a Civi, I really cant expect to know how things are at all, but from what I've heard I just have a couple of niggling doubts as to ...

Choices (Signals info?)
Hi everyone. I passed ADSC last week, originally my choices were the Parachute Regiment and the Royal Anglian Regiment. I was told that my run time qualified me for the Infantry but not the Parachute Regiment, however during selection I really did begin to question whether its the right choice for m...

Correct Cardsharp but every one knows it, after 6weeks you have 9weeks of get out time, but I'm explaining the rules if you want to leave before or after those 9 weeks. Ah, righto - I misunderstood. Not long to your intake now! You going to be posting here to let us all know how it goes? I for one ...
