If you're worried about being away for a few weeks at a time during training, you need to think a bit more deeply about what you're letting yourself in for. Obviously you are going to be going away on operations for 6 months at a time, fairly regularly, when you pass your training.

- Watched it, thanks SO19, found it quite intresting.
Well, it is obviously a stupid question, seeing as Cutting Edge is a series of documentaries.

Could you tell us all how they got a third chance as I'm sure others will want to know like I would.
You can get your head down. I'm not going to explain for obvious reasons.

Knock it off before a REAL frog jumps all over you. As Artist said, I'm not telling porkies mate. As for calling me a walt, wind your neck in, you haven't got a clue who ...

Re: Just a bored man's thought

I was just wondering how many people get through SAS selection. I read something somewhere a couple of days ago saying the SAS are having a recruiting problem. Also just wondering how many Royal Marines usually go in for SAS or do they always opt for SBS? To answer your questions, and not to waffle...

Re: Curious about matter on selection

I was just reading an article about the SAS and learned that whoever tries out for selection is only given two chances to pass. I was wondering. Should you fail on both those occasions, are you forever barred from trying again? Or can you try out again 1 - 2 years (or more) later? Contrary to what ...

Re: paras and pathfinders into sas

Also does anyone know how many Pathfinders go into the SAS I reckoned a lot due to their selection is similar but a lot shorter cheers to anyone who replies :D A lot of PF end up in SF, most guys give it a go after 3 or 4 years. There are usually 2 or 3 PF blokes passing every selection, which is a...

Re: Light infantry(paras)

Which regiment is the light infantry para's? Or is there any other light infantry regiment please state. I think you may have got yourself mixed up with Air Assault infantry and Para Regt. 16 Air Assault Brigade has two Battalions attached to it as Air Assault infantry. They are delivered by TALO (...

Most troops carry pistols now as a backup if they run out of rounds.....simple :D Pistols are carried for personal defence, ie if you are driving and some mad b'stard runs up to your vehicle with a grenade in his hand or whatever (it happens out there!). They are also handy if you get a stoppage an...

Yeah, mega series, very well researched and produced. I read the book quite a while before the series came out and it was good to see that the programme was very accurate. It is one of the only war series/films that I can sit through without DS'ing it! The interviews with the real life guys makes th...
