High Walk

It is done in north wales (for 21)

its is a adj125 said 24 km, in a fast time period.

it is not flat, its hard going and it is where about 40% of those left on 21 selection fail, if you pass high walk, which is weekend 6 you will most likely make it to test week, and be in with a good shout.

No pissing contest here

I just feel that having served in both the US and the UK military, i'm in a better position than most to dispell some of the misconceptions about both forces, i like to think i dont favour one over the other do i?

apologies just re: read your post

That time was to start plain army basic training, to pass it will be less and then depending what disipline you go to will determine the final passing times required.

i.e airbourne sub 10 mins?......supply paperwork clerk 12 mins?

you get my drift 8)

For basic Airbourne ie 101st, 82nd etc, you do 1 1/2 mile run in less than 11 mins, depending on your age.....pretty similar to BPFA, and most US guys do it sub 9 min 30 secs. alot sub 8 mins ...

Re: yanks

I've had three conversations with americans in my life and all have ended in arguements cause:-

1) England isn't the capital of france! (gcse geography)
2) The british empire was far bigger than the Roman Empire
3) America was formed by the British and not the indians as the arguement played out ...

My rnning was ok, bt when it came to hills, both running and tabbing up them, my legs would be killing me and i would slow considerably!

I bought a road bike, about 3 months ago and started doing 3 or 4 hilly rides a week, on the bike for 1 1/2 - 3 hrs, and a long ride 45-55 miles on a sat am ...
