Push ups and Sit ups, for 4PARA anyway, will be covered in your Phase 1, Week 1 training. As will the 1.5 mile run again [under 10:00 minutes].

It's all best effort, although I too have heard details that you should be looking to hit 50 - 70 of each :o

Regarding the blisters, I would most certainly buy proper running trainers and socks to match.

Running in el-cheapo or standard work socks is really not advisable. I wear big woolie type ones to work and running in them sees me squidging all over the shop (which then causes blisters and other sores ...

Chances are it 26 weeks with 2 weeks CIC and P-Coy.

I had trouble with so many different stories of how and what with the Paras - heck I've been given different times and dates for meetings too.

The important thing, is that it doesn't matter. If you want to be a Para you'll do the course ...

I presumed at first it was 'scare' talk, to make us want it more. I suppose one day I hope to know the real answer and hopefully I'll remember this thread to give a definitive answer ... until November then :)

Speaking from experience of martial arts.

My forearm techniques are as follows:

Clench your hands 200 times in a row, fast and make sure you open your hand all the way.

Then do 20 - 30 press-ups (slightly less than shoulder width) on the back of your hands with your fingers pointing inwards ...

I was told by a Sergeant Major that it was 10% and he would be very happy if he got 20%.

That figure doesn't include people who are back-squadded due to injury or whatever, so I suppose it's possible that 9 or so would be injured making up the 50%.

He did also give some advice, don't even be ...

I'm told 10% of those who apply pass and everyone can expect injuries (ranging from runners knee, shin splints to the more serious broken bones and twisted ankles)

I've been training on my own for about 12 weeks now and have gone through 2 light injuries (shin splints and now runners knee - damn ...

I was told something quite similar, 9:18 - thats until I was told different from a Para Sgt. He said 9:00 to be in.

He didn't bother explaining about the 9:40 because I'm not going to be lifting that weight anyway.

Will have a read of your other post, thanks.

Hi pal,

10 minutes for the selection weekend. But note that you'll be doing the max 2 mins sit-ups and max 2mins press-ups just before you go for a run.

You need to be down to 9 minutes to be accepted < was told this just this week.

Would think you need to be able to do 50 - 60 of each (sit-ups ...

Thanks for the advice Sarastro.

The idea of the blog is to help others along the same path.

When I first looked into becoming a Para I couldn't really find much in the way of personal diaries or experiences apart from the odd paragraph dotted around.

I certainly think it may help others to see ...

Do you have any links to the blogs? RM / Para or otherwise? Just can't seem to Google / search and find any of them.

Can I blog? (paratrooper training)

Hi all,

I'm planning to join 4Para 10 Coy and am just going throw the process of meeting up and planning to go on the insight course soon.

My question is, can I blog about my experiences?

I'm an online marketer by day and whilst searching Google I thought I would have come across a few blogs ...
